Step by step instructions for alternative installation for Windows operating system

This step-by-step guide describes how to install the BaseCamp software and the hike-and-bike maps on a computer with a Windows operating system in an alternative way.

Garmin® is a registered trademark and BaseCamp™ is a trademark of Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries. https://www.garmin.com
Windows® is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation and its affiliated companies. https://www.microsoft.com

Step 1 - Search for BaseCamp software using a search engine

Step 2 - Download the BaseCamp software

Step 3 - Install BaseCamp

Step 4 - Download the map from hike-and-bike

Important!
For the alternative way to install the map we use the GMAP Archive for Garmin BaseCamp.
That's why we download the following file here: LIE-HikeAndBike.gmap.zip

Select the link of the desired map, copy it, and paste it into your browser.

Step 5 - Unzip and install the map

Important!
Extract the file to the following directory: C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\

This directory is normally 'hidden'. If you do not see this directory, then you can display the hidden directories in your 'File Explorer' in the 'View' menu with 'Hidden elements'. Saving in this directory also works even if you can't see the directory optically, because it is still there.

Step 6 - Start BaseCamp and select map
